Trip Home - Border Crossing

Leaving Alaska this time was harder then usual. Because we were planning to pull the RV home, this meant we more then likely would not be returning for the following season. We both had a hard time saying goodbye's to our closest friends, and bidding farewell to some of the most gorgeous countryside we've ever set eyes on. As we drove, we reminisced or our time in Alaska, and really took in the beauty as we traveled towards the border. The weather was gorgeous, and we anxiously awaited the beginning - of what was to be - one of the longest honeymoons!

We spent our last night in Alaska in the back parking lot of the Tok, AK gas station. With the RV, we could literally pull up anywhere safe, turn on the heater to knock off the chill then turn it back off, hop in to bed for a comfortable nights sleep. When we woke in the morning we would eat breakfast, and hop back in the truck and begin the drive. It would be a luxurious trip home with our "home one wheels."

As we crossed the border, the last twenty miles took nearly an hour. We were literally traveling about 10 mph on washboard gravel roads. Took FOREVER!

With proper documentation at the border, we crossed with ease. Little to no questions asked. We found it was easier crossing the border with the RV then it was just in the truck, or tahoe. Crazy. The border patrol guy who checked us through was quick - but rude - what's new?

And then we began to see the kilometer signs. Brad's favorite!
