Fourth of July Flag Ceremony

In the evening, Rick hosted a flag ceremony put together with some of the veterans who work in our department. He had Sidney and Steve Willams, as well as John Haley take down and fold the flags. It was kind of neat the guests loved that we recognized the patriotic side of the holiday week. It was so neat, when they lowered the alaska flag, a large dragonfly (very large) flew and landed on the Alaska Flagpole. The dragonfly is the Alaska state insect, almost as if it was claiming it's territory. You can see the drangonfly in the last pictures as they lower the final flag - the American Flag. It was so moving, and neat to see. I'm glad Brad and I had the opportunity to participate in all the activities for the fourth of July! We had a nice BBQ with Brad's friend Alan, and spent the afternoon chatting, laughing and catching up. It was a wonderfully beautiful day.
